AXIS App: A UX-Driven Platform for Independent Scholars
Advancing eXchange for Independent Scholars

Overview
AXIS is a conceptual digital platform designed to support independent intellectuals lacking access to traditional academic infrastructure. The app enables research-focused, community-driven connection and collaboration.

Role & Contribution
Led the full UX design process, from research and strategy to high-fidelity prototyping—balancing analytical depth with creative execution.

Key Responsibilities & Methods

  • UX Research: Designed and deployed user surveys, analyzed results in spreadsheets, and synthesized findings into three personas:

    • Alex the Autodidact (Primary)

    • The Knowledge Seeker (College-Averse)

    • The Lapsed Alum (Seeking Intellectual Reconnection)

  • Journey Mapping: Created detailed user journeys highlighting pain points, needs, and emotional arcs across use cases.

  • Information Architecture & UI Design: Developed wireframes and a high-fidelity prototype (Figma) mapping 8+ key user flows.

  • Brand Strategy & Visual Identity: Named and branded the platform; designed moodboards, a logo, and a UI style guide.

Deliverables

  • Interactive prototype walkthrough

  • Full UX research documentation and persona set

  • Low- and high-fidelity wireframes

  • User journey maps

  • Complete brand identity kit

Outcomes

  • Demonstrated a research-first approach to product strategy and user experience design.

  • Balanced systems thinking with interaction design to prototype a platform for community-centered knowledge exchange.

  • Positioned AXIS as a proof-of-concept for ethical, user-centered digital infrastructure in education-adjacent sectors.
